Did you know that the border of Connecticut and Massachusetts is interrupted by a notch? I wonder if these neighbors could work out a trade?

There are only two interesting things along the Connecticut/Massachusetts border, one is a notch of land that interrupts a very straight border, and the other is the longest-named lake in the world. The notch I'm talking abut has a proper name, it's the Southwick Jog, and it's been there since the surveyors messed up the boundary lines that were established in the late 1600's. Attempts were made in the 17 and 1800's to re-establish a uniform border between us neighbors, but nothing has worked.

Recently I've seen stories on social media about another interesting item that is located along the CT/Mass border, it's a lake with the longest name in the world. I can't do it justice, but these videos can -

The full name of the lake is Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. Read that again, slowly, and take in all 45 letters. It's been shortened to "Webster Lake" to spare the tongues and fingers of residents that live there, but the novelty of shortening such a fun thing to try to say is wearing off.

I've driven through the Southwick Jog on Rt. 202, there is a Big Y, CVS, and McDonald's, as well as a few churches and farms. Massachusetts owns these, as well as the longest-named lake in the world. Massachusetts also owns the Big E, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, and old Sturbridge Village just over the border. Greedy? Or has Connecticut just not taken advantage of growth possibilities along it's northern border? Could we trade for the lake? Stranger things have happened.

These are the Three Worst Concerts I've Ever Seen in Connecticut

I've been to hundreds of shows in Connecticut, some of the best bands and comedians out there, but there have been a few stinkers. I've only walked out of a show early three times since 1985, and here's why
