A woman from Connecticut was shot and killed just outside of a bar in Nashville late on Friday night during what police say was an apparent robbery attempt.

According to NBC Connecticut, Jamie Sarrantonio, who has Connecticut roots, was one of two people shot while standing outside the Cobra Bar as she and four others were leaving the bar shortly after 3:30 am Saturday morning and walked to a nearby convenience store to buy snacks. Detectives believe the suspects were randomly looking for robbery victims at the time and targeted the four people.

The suspects then reportedly confronted the group once they returned to the Cobra's parking lot, and eyewitnesses reported that's when they heard the shots ring out that hit Sarrantonio, and a 33-year-old man who was with the group.

Both were rushed to a Nashville hospital, where they soon succumbed to their injuries.

The bar where the shooting occurred posted the following statement on their Facebook page on Saturday:

Sarrantonio had been working in Nashville for almost 10 years, and was also employed by a company out of Austin, Texas.

Police are still on the look out for the murder suspects and believe that this incident may be related to a rash of crime that has hit the East Nashville area over the last few days.

Family and friends have set up a Go Fund Me page to help with the cost of funeral services.

Services for Sarrantonio, and burial are said to be happening in Connecticut, but details are still pending.
