Do you feel like we live in a healthy area of the United States? I've always thought that living in New England and the Tri-State area provides a much-better quality of life than less populated areas of our country, and now we have the data to back that up.

SmileHub.org has just ranked all 50 states at how well they provide quality health care and healthier lifestyle opportunities, and Connecticut just missed the top 10. According to Best States for Health & Wellness, the Northeast and New England has no competition.

In order to arrive at their rankings SmileHub compared all 50 states across three key dimensions: Community Health Baselines, Health Care Access, and Personal Health & Wellness Activity. Those dimensions were further evaluated using 23 relevant metrics: Life Expectancy, Obesity Rate, Cancer Incidence Rate, Heart Disease Rate, Substance Abuse Rates, Cost of Medical Visit, Quality of Public Hospital System, Urgent Care Centers per capita, Medicare Acceptance Rate among Physicians, and Outdoor Activity Access.
