Congratulations on your retirement, are you planning on enjoying the rest of your days here in Connecticut? Good luck living the lifestyle you've grown accustomed to, and here's a suggestion: Don't retire in Bridgeport. A new study has named two Connecticut cities among the 'Worst Places to Retire in 2024'.
I'm 55 years old, seven years away from the magical number 62, when I'll be able to retire, apply for Social Security, and Medicare(Hopefully). Life is supposed to go according to the plan - Work hard, at least for the first 50 years of our life, save up enough money along the way to enjoy the golden years of retirement without worry. As time marches on, I realize that I might not be able to afford staying here in Connecticut when my time is up. In my case, the cost of living and taxes we endure are just unsustainable.
WalletHub.com has just released Best & Worst Places to Retire in 2024, where they have compared more than 180 cities in the US across 45 key metrics in four key dimensions - Affordability, Activities, Quality of Life, and Healthcare. New Haven was the only other city in Connecticut that made WalletHub.com's list, landing at #131. the #1 city for 2024? Orlando, Florida.
