Authorities say the situation first came to light on March 27, 2026, when law enforcement received a report involving an alleged past incident with a female minor. From there, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation stepped in and began looking into the claims. After several days of investigative work, officials say they were able to identify and locate the suspect.

On April 3, deputies tracked down the man—identified as Christian Alexis Lopez Gregorio—in the Village of Brewster. Police say the arrest didn’t go smoothly. According to officials, Lopez Gregorio attempted to run from law enforcement and resisted efforts to take him into custody before ultimately being apprehended.

He is now facing some very serious charges, including two counts of first-degree rape involving forcible compulsion, which are classified as Class B felonies. He’s also been charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

Following the arrest, Lopez Gregorio was processed and taken to the Putnam County Correctional Facility. He was later arraigned in court in the Town of Southeast, where a judge set bail at $50,000 cash or a $100,000 bond. As of now, he remains in custody.

Officials praised the work of the investigators involved, crediting the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and responding officers for moving quickly and handling the case professionally.

Cases like this are always tough to hear about, especially when they involve young victims. If there’s any takeaway here, it’s the importance of reporting incidents and speaking up. Law enforcement can’t act on what they don’t know, and in this case, that report set the wheels in motion for an arrest.

Exclusive Photos, Videos, and Interviews on the Set of New Milford Horror Movie

"Candlewood" is a horror film that just finished filming in New Milford, CT. This is how the filmmakers described the project on their Indiegogo:

"Candlewood is the first movie of three in the psychological/horror feature film franchise. A blended family moves from the city to a small town in Connecticut, where a local urban legend adds chaos and terror to an already fragile family dynamic. The staunch patriarch, who desperately wants his family to not see him as a failure but as the father that did everything, he could to keep his family together through difficult times. Candlewood follows a family leaving New York City for a simpler life in the country town of New Milford, CT. The haunting and mysterious true stories of missing hikers near a popular state park, Lover's Leap, coupled with the town of Jerusalem sitting at the bottom of Candlewood Lake gives credibility to our narrative. We bring to life the struggle of good vs evil and what happens when lifelong, outdated traditions are challenged."

A while back I got in touch with the folks behind the movie, invited them on the I-95 Morning Show with Ethan, Lou and Dave and talked about the film, and shooting in New Milford. We spoke with Director Myke Furhman and Writer/Executive Producer Victoria Flores-Argue. During that discussion, I demanded to be in the movie, telling the duo that I have some experience acting on TV shows that never actually made it onto TV. Against all odds, they did invite me to participate and I visited the set on October 20th to shoot a scene that is important. I was extremely nervous and I had zero idea of what I was in for. Below are some insider moments from my day on-set and from others.

6 Everyday Connecticut Things That Outsiders Think We’re Totally Making Up

If you live in Connecticut long enough, you forget that the rest of America has no idea what we’re talking about half the time. We drop references to things like “Wethersfield Pizza Wars,” “the Mixmaster,” or “UConn women’s expectations” like they’re universal topics everyone everywhere discusses over coffee. But the moment an out-of-state visits, you remember oh right, none of this is normal. Connecticut is full of quirks that are perfectly reasonable to us and completely baffling to everyone else.
