Anonymous Letter Reveals Potential Link Between Danbury Kidnapping and $240 Million Heist
Back in August (2024), six Florida men were arrested for kidnapping in Danbury, Connecticut. The victims were an unnamed couple in their 50s that was out house-hunting in a Lamborghini in the Hat City.

When the story broke, I remember people saying maybe it was just a random thing, these guys saw a $230,000 car and pounced. I said no way is that the case, sure it's plausible but the fact that these guys were from Florida stunk of something deeper. Well, it appears to be deeper.
On September 12, NBC CT validated my suspicions and reported that police stated this was a targeted crminal act. Here is what they stated in that article.
The two others and the Honda Civic were found at a short-term rental home in Roxbury and the victims’ Lamborghini was found abandoned in the woods off the road on East King Street. Federal officials said it is alleged that one suspect organized, paid for, and booked flights for the six to travel from Florida to commit this criminal activity. They stayed in New York City on the night of Aug. 23, then made the trip to a rental home in Roxbury, according to documents. A person with information relevant to the case also told investigators that the suspects conducted surveillance on the victims’ home and vehicle and followed them when they left the home.
Since then, there has not been any new information being reported locally but that changed this morning (10/10/24) when I received an anonymous letter at the I-95 offices.
Inside there was a packet of information alleging there is way more than meets the eye.
In addition to the cryptic cover sheet were 5 other pages that included portions of articles and links about a cryptocurrency heist of over $240 million.
This was more than enough to get my curiosity going so Dave and I started doing some research and what we found was mind-blowing. While there has been little movement on this story here in Connecticut, there is a ton of information being shared on this case across the rest of the country.
There is an article in Crypto News that came out on September 19th that alleges a 19-year-old Danbury man named Veer Chetal was involved in the massive cryptocurrency heist. The article states the following:
In August, three scammers, identified as Malone Iam, Veer Chetal, and Jeandiel Serrano, swindled a single Genesis Global creditor of nearly $250 million by impersonating a Gemini customer support agent. The investigation, spearheaded by crypto sleuth ZachXBT, revealed multiple videos of the trio sharing the loot and expressing euphoria over the successful theft.
Further digging led me to a more in-depth article from Krebs on Security which states:
The parents of a 19-year-old Connecticut honors student accused of taking part in a $243 million cryptocurrency heist in August were carjacked a week later — while out house-hunting in a brand new Lamborghini. Prosecutors say the couple was beaten and briefly kidnapped by six young men who traveled from Florida as part of a botched plan to hold the parents for ransom.
The report goes on to say that Veer goes by the nickname "Wiz" in Crypto circles, adding: “A cluster of [cryptocurrency] addresses tied to both Box/Wiz received $41M+ from two exchanges over the past few weeks primarily flowing to luxury goods brokers to purchase cars, watches, jewelry, and designer clothes,” ZachXBT wrote."
This begs the question, how did the "Florida Six" know about the alleged heist and what is their connection to Veer? The same Krebs report says that the cyber heist suspects are part of "The Com" an online community of cybercriminals. Members of "The Com" share information and brag about their heists.
One of the "Florida Six" as I'm referring to them, is an alleged crypto-criminal himself. Krebs says that Reynaldo "Rey" Diaz goes by the alias "Pantic" in these online chats and he was "doxed" on "The Com" earlier this year.

If you do a quick Google search of "Veer Chetal Danbury" you get a 2022 article from the Archdiocese of Bridgeport that celebrates Veer's scholastic achievements:
Immaculate High School announced that student Veer Chetal was selected for and successfully completed Harvard’s Future Lawyers Program, a unique pre-professional program where students, guided by qualified Harvard undergraduate instructors, learn how to read and build a case, how to write position papers, and how to navigate the path to law school. Over two weekends, program participants acquire a better comprehension of legal systems and the inner workings of the court system. They develop teamwork skills, gain awareness of history, and recognize how current events contextualize law in society today. They also understand how to prepare for the LSAT.
Multiple reports say Chetal was seen partying and spending lavishly in Miami earlier this year. There is even video of him in a club holding a sign that says "I Win it All."
IMPORTANT: I've read a bunch of articles and blogs about this and nowhere does it say that Veer Chetal has been charged with any crimes. A few of the articles go out of their way to point out that he hasn't.
