Not to be an alarmist, but I've come across a couple of reliable sources that are sounding the alarm about popular candies that are carcinogenic. The Center For Science In The Public Interest article, dated October 10, 2023, states that even the FDA agrees with the findings.

According to an article at npr.org, there's been added pressure on the FDA to take action on the food coloring red No. 3. This is not a new discovery. For 33 years, we've been waiting for the Food and Drug Administration to act on removing red No.3 from the market. California was the first state to ban four food additives. Red dye 3 is found in many products, including cake and cookie decorations. Synthetic food dyes like this one have been linked with behavioral issues in kids.
