We got a chance to chat with the legendary axe man ahead of this huge gig, this was our favorite moment.

Lou: I have my own opinions on this because I'm criticized constantly about it, but what do you think — how is anger's role in art misunderstood? How is the emotion of anger misunderstood in art?

Tom: "Yeah, yeah, I think that on the first Rage Against the Machine record, Zack de la Rocha says very accurately, “Anger is a gift.” You know, without anger there would have been no American Revolution. Without anger there would have been no women’s rights movement. There would have been no civil rights movement. There would be no movement now to stop fascism and racism. But I wouldn’t separate it from music, because I think that whenever people — in whatever their job, whether they are guitar players, radio disc jockeys, carpenters, plumbers, students — whenever they feel that kind of tingle, that voice in their head that says, “This just isn’t right, man.” You know, I’ve made twenty-two records in my career, and the one common thread in all those records is that the world is not going to change itself — that’s up to you. And when the world has been changed in the past, it’s been by people who have had enough in their place and time — they stood up. And they haven’t had any more money, power, influence, creativity, courage, etc., than anybody listening right now."
