South By South West is one of the most popular entertainment festivals throughout the year. Also known by SXSW, is hosted down in Austin, Texas where artist from the world of music, television, movies and media outlets come together to share their work.

The Hudson Valley Film Commission is reporting that three movie that were filmed in and around the Hudson Valley will be debuting at SXSW.

Janet Peirson, who is the head of SXSW, is a former Hudson Valley resident and told Deadline "We are particularly pleased to present John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place as our opening-night film. Not only do we love its originality, suspense and amazing cast, we love seeing artists stretch and explore."

A Quiet Place was filmed in Beacon, New Paltz and Pawling and will be released in theaters this April. Emily Blunt also stars in the film. It will be making its debut on the opening night of SXSW on March 9th.


Another film Vigilante, featuring actress Olivia Wilde, will also be making its debut in Austin. The movie was filmed in Kingston and follows a woman hunting down her abusive ex-husband while helping domestic abuse victims along the way.

SXSW is also featuring the movie Shotgun that filmed throughout Fishkill, Cornwall and Saugerties. Shotgun tells the story of two young adults developing relationship after one is diagnosed with a terminal illness.

In all 134 movies will be previewed at SXSW and the Hudson Valley will be well represented.
