The Salad Bar Opens Second Connecticut Restaurant
You know what Connecticut needs more of? Salad bars. Yeah, I said it. I'm a 51-year-old fat man, I'm supposed to be all about beer and wings, right? Nope, give me Romaine, fresh cukes, croutons, some bean sprouts, and blue cheese, and I'm in Heaven.
Back in the 80's, there used to be a franchise called Salad Alley, we used to eat there all the time, I loved it. Well, there's a dedicated salad restaurant pretty close to what Salad Alley used to be here in Connecticut, it's called The Salad Bar, it's in Rocky Hill, and they've just opened up their second location in the state today in Glastonbury.
According to my friend Jackie, and her website The Scoop Glastonbury, The Salad Bar opened up their second location, at 2858 Main Street in Glastonbury, this morning at 11AM.
The original location is at 856 Cromwell Ave (Rt. 3) in Rocky Hill. The menu is exactly what you're looking for, if you're completely burned out by the American fast food giants like I am: fresh leafy greens, veggies, toppings, pre-made salads, wraps, soups, and, this is where they stand out again - dozens of dressings, like apple cider vinegar, asian sesame, avocado ranch, balsamic vinegar, balsamic vinaigrette, balsamic glaze, buffalo sauce, buttermilk ranch, chili garlic, creamy blue cheese, cucumber tzatziki, dijon honey mustard, extra virgin olive oil, golden italian, lavacado ranch, raspberry vinaigrette, red wine vinegar, royal Caesar, spicy Asian sesame, spicy Thai peanut, Sriracha, Tuscan vinaigrette, seasonal creamy tahini, seasonal fresh pressed lemon, and fresh pressed lime.
The Salad Bar also offers shakes and smoothies, they're open M-F 11-8, Saturday 11-7, and closed on Sunday.
