Thank You Greater Danbury! Camping for Cans 2020 Was a Rousing Success
Honestly, all of us here at I-95 didn't know what to expect. We've never tried to launch a major food drive during a pandemic. Every year on the weekend before Thanksgiving, Townsquare Media, Danbury dives headfirst into our Camping for Cans food drive to benefit Hillside Food Outreach.
I thought that being trapped in the throes of a pandemic might affect the amount of food and cash donations during this year's Camping for Cans campaign, but, guess what, I was dead wrong because once again, you came through big-time for Hillside Food Outreach.
According to Kathy Purdy, Executive Director for Hillside Food Outreach, each can and every dollar counts when it comes to helping our neighbors in need. Because of your generosity, we BEAT last year's record number. Total cash donations were at a record high, $12,912, and non-perishable food donations weighed in at 5,250 pounds.
An exceptional thank you goes out to the individuals who donated $500 or more. They are April Buck, Anthony Sigillito, Rick's Pump and Water Service Stafford, Scott Crane, and Matthew Wilcox. If you would like to volunteer to deliver food to families in need, click on hillsidefoodoutreach.org.
