Could Connecticut become the 4th state willing to pass the paid family and medical leave act?

Yesterday was a very positive day in Connecticut. Lawmakers paid attention.

In a story from Fox61.com, more than 100 influential women from across the state signed a letter in support of a paid family and medical leave act. The bill would allow up to 12 weeks of paid leave for pregnancy, illness or to care for a sick family member. The Connecticut Campaign for the Paid Family Leave Act has published it's recommendations on their paidfamilyleavect.org site.

All of the campaigning and hard work paid off as the bill passed in the Labor and Public Employees Committee, which means it will now move forward to be voted on by the entire Senate.

Considering that the program would be funded by a percentage deduction from worker paychecks, this feels like a "no-brainer" to me. Hopefully the Connecticut State Senate will see it the same way.
