Brookfield Man Lauded as a Hero After Prying Victim From Car Fire
A hero was born, and a life was saved over the Thanksgiving holiday in Brookfield.

Off-duty White Plains firefighter Nicholas Perri noticed a burning car early Saturday morning on Route 7 in Brookfield and sprung into action.
Perri pulled the woman from the burning car and alerted the authorities.
The woman was taken to a local hospital and an update on her injuries has not been made available but NBC 4 says she "was still recovering in the ICU." The Brookfield Fire Department released a statement to the press that read:
"Perri Jr. came upon the accident while headed home. Without the protection of gear or a hose line, he gained access to the well involved vehicle and successfully removed the badly injured female driver as flames were entering the passenger compartment. He carried the patient to EMS where she was treated and transported to Danbury Hospital. Mr Perri was treated on scene for minor injuries and refused transport. The jacket he was wearing was burned from the fire. If not for the courageous actions of Mr. Perri, the operator would have burned to death in her vehicle. His actions are a testament to him, the White Plains FD, and the fire service as a whole."
When NBC spoke to Mr. Perri he had this to say of the incident:
Instinct, training kicked in and ran in and did the best I could do to get her out.I assessed how she was in there and then I broke the front passenger window. I was able to get one of her legs free, the other was pretty mangled -- it was giving me a hard time, was just yelling ou got to work with me because we are running out of time here.
I love a hero story, this is precisely what the world needs now, not another comic book hero but a real-life, true blue hero. Well done Mr. Perri. If anyone knows Mr. Perri, please help us contact him. We'd love to invite him to be a guest on the I-95 Morning Show to speak about his experience.
