Police: Putnam County Teen Destroyed Property in Neighborhood
A Putnam County teen is facing felony charges for allegedly destroying property in his own neighborhood.
On Saturday, March 31, multiple complaints of criminal mischief were received by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the Cold Spring Police Department after someone vandalized parts of the villages of Cold Spring and Nelsonville.
Police were able to find surveillance footage from local businesses. The video showed a man intentionally damaging the book deposit box at the Butterfield Library and basketball hoop, police say.
On Wednesday, a 17-year-old from Cold Spring was charged with two counts of criminal mischief, one a felony the other a misdemeanor.
The investigation is continuing and police are hoping more victims of the teen's alleged vandalism call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen was released pending an appearance in the Village of Cold Spring Justice Court on April 11.
