Fan-Favorite Pizza Special Returns to Frank Pepe’s Connecticut Locations for Summer Only

I can talk about pizza all day long.

I feel like it's an easy thing to talk about when we're surrounded by the best. Yesterday I wrote about a Pizza Festival that is taking place in New York this September hosted by nobody other than the best pizza reviewer around - Barstool Sports' El Pres, Dave Portnoy.

As many people know, Dave compares everything to New Haven pizza since nobody has it beat. One of Dave's favorites, Franke Pepe's, has an announcement that is circulating around today.

I feel like there are a lot of fan-favorites when it comes to Frank Pepe's. The white clam is a must, a regular mozzarella and sauce, but there's a specific fan-favorite that comes back around for the summertime only and it's about to make its seasonal debut.

A press release came out today announcing that the highly-anticipated summer special, the Fresh Tomato pie, is returning to Frank Pepe's 17 locations, including all Connecticut locations, starting June 28 and ending on September 29. That gives you 3 months to get one of their best pies they offer.

The Fresh Tomato pizza consists of "a delectable blend of fresh, native tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, garlic, basil, grated Pecorino Romano cheese and a touch of imported olive oil, all atop the pizza’s signature crispy yet chewy, slightly charred crust." My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Frank Pepe's granddaughter, Jennifer Bimonte-Kelly, commented about the seasonal pizza special saying, "they ask about it  all year long, and their faces just light up when it's finally back every summer. It's moments like these that remind us why we love what we do and why we’ve kept our family traditions alive for nearly 100 years.”

It's clearly a special one. I've never had this pie before, but that will change this summer. A trip to Pepe's will be on my list. Do we think they're going to be serving up the summer special at the One Bite Pizza Festival in September? I sure hope so.
