People Are Dancing on the Roof of the Patriot Garage in Danbury
Do you just want to dance? Is dance your thing? Is it your husband or wife's favorite activity?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, you need to know about Danbury's Dancing Under the Stars. Dancing Under the Stars takes place the Last Thursday of every month this summer on the roof of the Patriot Garage from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The next one is set for July 29, 2021.
The free dance lesson is open to the public with the lessons coming from instructors at Arthur Murray of Danbury. The event is part of a full schedule of activities taking place all summer hosted by City Center Danbury and it's sponsored by the Setaro Law Firm.
City Center's Executive Director Angela Wong had this to say of the event and summer events schedule:
"People are eager to get out and enjoy what the city has to offer. We want them to come downtown for a walk, grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurant options and have the opportunity to do a little something different."
I had the chance to attend the first one, and it was a beautiful night and a fun activity, despite my inability to dance.
We live downtown so an event like this one is perfect, we took a walk, enjoyed a free lesson, I stomped all over my wife's feet and then we went to dinner, everybody wins. We were joined by a ton of our Danbury friends at the event as well and we did not even know they were coming.

City Center was facing tough challenges heading into an unprecedented summer. The combination of COVID-19 and most of the downtown area being under construction for the streetscape project meant throwing large scale events was going to be nearly impossible. Instead, the office pivoted and rose to the challenge to providing a list of smaller, but still exciting activities.
Dancing Under the Stars is not the only activity to enjoy downtown. In the Spring, City Center Danbury announced a PoP! Table Tennis night. PoP runs every Friday from 4-7 on the Bardo Walkway and the city has a trivia night called "Best Trivia Ever" in Kennedy Park that takes place July 30 and August 27.
That is me with Danbury Mayoral candidate Roberto Alves, we were competing in the first trivia night and then we had dinner at Two Steps.

Not only did we have fun with the ping pong but we played corn-hole as well. That's my daughter above celebrating a point like she'd just won Game 7 of the World Series. I don't know where she gets that from?
Get Downtown, it's not going to be costly, these events are free, just bring money for dinner and I'll see you down there.
P.S. Many people heard me complain about the Dancing night on the Ethan and Lou Show, my moaning had nothing to do with how the night was setup and everything to do with my dance skills.
At a wedding, with four cocktails in me, I can dance like nobody's business but stone-cold sober with a "5-6-7-8" countdown, it's downright embarrassing.
My buddy Joe caught me dancing when I wasn't looking.
