I was driving through Southbury on the way into work this morning and I noticed that a new seafood market in town has put out signs up along Main Street.

Southbury Seafood Market is located at 466 Heritage Road in the Heritage Village shopping center. I just got off the phone with the owner of Southbury Seafood, Roy, who told me that they are hoping to open up their doors to the public sometime next week (July 19 - 23, 2021).

This will be such a wonderful addition to Heritage Village which lost it's main restaurant attraction, Friendly's Restaurant, back in the Summer of 2019.

Southbury Seafood Market will carry a huge variety of fresh and raw fish in their market and they will also serve prepared seafood out of their kitchen. Roy told me that all of his seafood is being brought in from the fresh markets in New York City daily. As for what you can expect on the menu, it looks like a bunch of classic New England dishes will be served up fresh, including: Calamari, Littleneck Clams, Cioppino, Fish & Chips, Maryland Crab Cakes, Ahi Tuna, Shrimp and Fish Tacos, Seafood Po Boy Sandwiches, Lobster Rolls, Seafood Salads, and a Kid's Menu for the tykes.

In other Southbury Seafood news, Lucas Local Oyster Bar is inching closer to their big relocation/grand opening from Newtown to their new spot 775 Main Street South in the Shop Rite/Homegoods Plaza on the Southbury Green.

We wrote an article about Lucas Local announcing their expansion to Southbury. They have temporarily shut down their former location at 48 South Main Street in Newtown as of June 26, 2021 in order to relocate Lucas Local and then to renovate the former location in Newtown, change names, and bring a new concept into town. From the recent social media updates, Lucas Local Southbury is in the decorating and training stage of the development.

I'd say that they're going to open their doors within the next few weeks? See you at both of these new locations very soon.
