Vaccination rates throughout the country are rising, as of last Tuesday (October 12), close to 57% of people in this country have already received the COVID-19 vaccine.

This was one of the factors that have put Connecticut at the top of the list of the safest states in the country.

The methodology compared the states in five key metric categories including the percentage of people in a particular state being vaccinated, the rates of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations, and death rates.

After all was said and done and the data tallied, the Nutmeg state topped the list. Here's where Connecticut ranked in some of the most important metrics:

The state was third for lowest positive testing rates, also third in the nation for lowest death rates, it ranked fourth for highest vaccination rates in the nation, and fourth for the lowest hospital rates.

Even though the state was not number one in these metric categories, the high ranking numbers on average were better then all 49 other states, including the District of Columbia.

Here's an interactive map that looks at how all fifty states ranked in this recent study:

This particular study leaned heavily on the safety factor of states during the pandemic as a tool to gage the economic factor as well. The thought process was that states with lower scores across the board, and especially with COVID-19 transmission and death rates, also had a better chance of having less mandates and restrictions thus giving people more confidence to go out and shop at stores in person.

Here's a breakdown of the top 5 states, and the total scores they received. By the way, New York just missed the Top 10, coming in at number eleven on the latest study.
