Experience Rockwell’s Iconic Covers At Local Museums
You may not be old enough to remember your grandparent's copies of the Saturday Evening post on your family coffee table, but you've probably seen some of the incredible artwork done by Norman Rockwell before.

Some of the most iconic photo-realistic paintings the world ever saw graced the cover of that magazine for most of the 1900's, and every single copy that Norman Rockwell's work ever appeared on those covers is housed in the Norman Rockwell Museum in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
My wife and I recently had to stop by the New Britain Museum of American Art and saw that they are currently hosting Norman Rockwell: From Camera to Canvas until February 15, 2026. Great Barrington is about a 45-minute trip up Rt. 7 from the CT/Mass border into Massachusetts, so New Britain may be a bit closer for you.
Norman Rockwell: From Camera to Canvas explores Rockwell's creative process of the journey of his preliminary sketch to a staged photograph of actors to the finished painting. Nearly 70 photographs, paintings, and drawings are shown from throughout Rockwell's career,
If you do feel like making a short drive into the Berkshires to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, you'll find all 323 Saturday Evening Post covers, the original full-sized paintings, and 10 galleries on a gorgeous 36-acre property.
Triple Self Portrait is the name of the 1960 painting you see above, and this truly shows Rockwell's process for achieving such incredible detail. Either Museum is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon appreciating the works of a Master.
