More Connecticut Cities and Towns Are Vying for Amazon HQ
You might think, "No way in hell will Amazon come to Connecticut." But the list of cities and towns thinking differently is growing.
Just about two weeks ago, I shared our quest for a major coup in our state.
Well guess what? A lot of cities and towns around Connecticut think our state would indeed be the perfect spot for Amazon's second headquarters.
In a story from courant.com, state economic officials now say 15 cities and towns in Connecticut are vying for Amazon's new headquarters. One proposal comes from four towns submitting a joint proposal, and the article says they are Bridgeport, Fairfield, New Haven and Stratford. Enfield is also making a push touting it's closeness to Bradley International Airport and I-91.
The enticement is huge when you consider that Amazon plans to spend five-billion-dollars on the facility, which will employ around 50-thousand people! The deadline to submit proposals at amazon.com is Oct. 19th.
And yes, in case you missed it, even Danbury is also throwing it's hat in the ring. Here's Mayor Mark Boughton's plea:
You know the old saying, "May the Best Man Win"? Well, in this instance, as much as I'd love to see the Amazon HQ's sign in Danbury, I'd be over the moon excited for anyplace in the state to score this major player and what it would mean for our economy.
