(Ultimate classic rock) - Metallica fans have had to be patient while waiting for the band to put together a follow-up to 2008′s ‘Death Magnetic,’ but it looks like 2014 might be their year.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett recently told Billboard that after putting it off for years with a variety of projects, they’ll be getting down to business “in a couple of weeks.” While he didn’t go into any details about specific plans, he did open up a bit about what’s kept the band out of the studio for so long.

Metallica is one of those bands that become part of your personality.  I got into them in high school and have never looked back. You know you love a band when you can watch a live DVD 25 years after it came out or play an old CD from beginning to end 30 years after the album came out.  This band for me is the one I always find my way back to.  I’ve been critical of them though too.  The past few albums for me sucked and the thing they did with Lou Reed made me wish they would retire.  When a band has this much talent though and an insane resume that stretches decades you know they will bounce back and do something amazing.  I hope this is that project and if it is I’ll be obsessed with it for life.  “We got any wolves out there?”  OOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!
