Meet the Guy Who Hired Me in 1979

His name is Tom Zarecki or should I say, Professor Tom Zarecki. He's the man who originally hired me to work evenings in February of 1979. You may not know this, but Tom was instrumental in launching i95.

WRKI at 6pm on December 24, 1976. The first song ever played on the new i95 was "The Bitch Is Back" by Elton John, and Tom Zarecki was there as the first program director and morning show host.

He was my first mentor and I'll always be thankful he took a chance on this rookie.

Not surprising, Tom is now a professor at Western CT State University in both the Communication and Media Arts Department and the Marketing Department, where he teaches broadcasting, public speaking, advertising, and social media.

On April 7 at 7:30pm in the Danbury Hospital Auditorium, Professor Zarecki will speak about "What works and what doesn't work in social media" as a guest speaker for the Danbury Area Computer Society or DACS.

He's an excellent speaker! Trust me, I heard him speak a lot during my first two years at i95.
