The easiest way to get a conversation started in Connecticut? Ask "Who makes the best grinders and sandwiches?" I lean towards Noochie's in Waterbury, but a recent article has named a shop in New Haven in their 'The Best Sandwich Shop in Every State'.

MSN.com has named New Haven's Meat & Company as Connecticut's representative in their article We've Found the Best Sandwich Shop in Every State. According to MSN.com 'Meat & Company is not your average sandwich shop....with imaginative takes on old school staples.' I took a look at the menu at Meat & Company, I have never been there, but it looks really good. For example: The Proper Villan sandwich, which is a chicken cutlet covered with bitter broccoli, poblano peppers, fresh mootz, and mayo. You can try the Rick Reuben, which surprisingly doesn't have beard clippings, but instead features the inner workings of a typical Pastrami Reuben sandwich - slaw, cheese, and pastrami.

I'm not MSN.com, but my choices for the Best Sandwich Shops in all of Connecticut are: Noochie's Deli at 72 America Street in Waterbury, Rein's Deli in Vernon makes the best Reuben sandwich in my opinion, and I know I'm going to catch it for this one, but the Baked-Stuffed Pastrami from Nardelli's is one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had.

Meat & Company is located at the East Rock Market Building at 285 Nicoll Street in New Haven, they're open 7 days a week, with shortened hours on Mondays when they close at 3PM.
