Fans of New Milford's Lynn Deming Park will be happy to know that the park is about to reopen. Mayor Pete Bass announced in a Virtual Town Hall on Facebook that the park will reopen on Monday, June 22.

Bass said to prepare for some changes as the park reopens. The park's capacity will be reduced to allow for social distancing, picnic tables will be unavailable, and the bathrooms will be closed and portapotties available. Lifeguards will be monitoring end enforcing social distancing requirements. Entrance to the park will be first come, first served until the park reaches its reduced capacity, and operating hours will be limited. Hours will be 11:30 AM- 5:30 PM. Capacity will be 50 vehicles plus boaters on weekdays, and 100 vehicles plus boaters on weekends per the Park and Rec website.

Although the picnic tables are closed, grills will be made available.

"Lynn Deming is the crown jewel of our park system. Especially on the beach, the town has made a big huge investment in that area, and one of the things we were looking at is how do we open that up? Because there are specific health concerns that are involved."  Bass said that Parks and Rec and the Health Department were both involved with the Lynn Deming plan as well as the DEEP guidelines for beaches. "We're all going to make this as enjoyable as we possibly can, giving people the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful park."
