Is 2025 the Year Connecticut Allows Wine Sales in Grocery Stores?
Connecticut grocery stores are once again uniting to issue a public plea for us to contact lawmakers in order to allow the sale of wine into their stores.

You may not know CTwinenow.com, but I'm sure you have heard of: Big Y, Caraluzzi's, LaBonne's, Market 32, Price Chopper, Stop & Shop, Shop Rite, Geissler's, Adams, Highland Park, Whole Foods, West Side Marketplace, and Fitzgerald's. Our local grocery stores are collectively known as the CFA - Connecticut Food Association. The Connecticut CFA is 90 members strong, and they represent 30,000 associates. For the past few years (At least) CTWineNow.com has worked against the grain for Connecticut lawmakers to allow grocery stores in Connecticut to sell wine.
What's the issue? Connecticut's package stores and distributors want to keep their product in their own hands. I've heard rumors that small packies are worried about the erosion of the slimmest of profits too, that's what I sense, although there is way more to it. As of right now, 42 of the 50 States allow the sale of wine. Our neighbor New York is trying to do the same thing right now, while most of New England (New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts) already allow it.
According to ctwinenow.com, 84% of Connecticut's residents approve of the sale of wine at our local grocery stores, up 12% over the last five years. So, what can you do before Connecticut's General Assembly closes shop on June 4, 2025? Contact your local Representative, CTWineNow.com makes it easy for you. Wouldn't it be nice to pick up a Cabernet with your Ribeye without having to make another stop?
