Homer Street in Waterbury Has a New Boss in Little Puerto Rico
For most of my life the main attraction on Homer Street in Waterbury has been Mr. Happy's, but there's a new boss in this part of town, it's the liveliest little food place you'll ever see.

The intersection of Homer/Chase/Huntington Avenue and Thomaston Avenue is one of the busiest in all of Waterbury. At times it may take you two or three traffic light cycles to crawl through that intersection. I've usually passed the time watching the action in the Cumberland Farms parking lot, but I've been appreciating the vibe that Little Puerto Rico puts out.
Have you ever driven by a restaurant and said 'Oh, I have to go there right now'? It doesn't happen often, but that's the way that I felt the first time I ever drove past Little Puerto Rico's food truck/restaurant at the intersection of Thomaston Ave and Homer Street in Waterbury. Little Puerto Rico doesn't have the empire that Los Garcia has established for themselves along E. Main Street, but the word about Little Puerto Rico's giant Papa Asada/Baked Potatoes is getting around. They serve Fries, Burritos, Empanadas, and a Chicken Grill too, but the menu is simple.
It's sensory overload as you sit in traffic along Homer Street with the combination of the beautiful smell of the meats smoking at Hindsight BBQ right around the corner, the intoxicating music blasting from the speakers at Little Puerto Rico, and the line of entertainers and patrons of Mr. Happy's, plus the CT Halal Market and Alltown Fresh.
