Connecticut Braces For Winds While Snow Hits Nearby States
Buckle up for some dangrous high winds tonight here in Connecticut, but we have one thing to be thankful for - No snow, yet.
Today is Wednesday, November 5, and it was 14 years ago when the Halloween Blizzard hit Connecticut. I'll never forget losing power for two full days, while others were in the dark for more than a week. Forecasts in Connecticut are calling for dangerous winds throughout our state tonight, with gusts of 50-60MPH, but just to our North the season is officially beginning tonight.

According to weather.com, our Northerly New England neighbors Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are going to get their first true snowfall of the season tonight into tomorrow afternoon as a huge system mover by just to the North of the Massachusetts/Vermont border.
I don't know about you, but I've tried to hold off as long as I can before turning the heat on in my home. Typically I make it to just about Thanksgiving before hitting the thermostat, and I'm holding out strong in 2025. I want to say that the latest that I can remember in recent years was December 1? And on the other side of the year, I try to wait until June 1 before turning our air conditioners on. It's sad how budgets interfere with our comfort, but that's the world that we live in.
You never know when a cold front will approach, like the freak blizzard that some of us remember in 2011. I'm holding out hope that we won't see any of the white stuff until December in Connecticut, but what do I know?
