Greater Danbury Republicans Gathered in Support of Michelle Coehlo for State Senate
All the Greater Danbury area GOP heavy-hitters gathered together over the weekend in support of Michelle Coehlo who is running for State Senate.

Al Robinson from Hat City Blog was in attendance to cover the dinner at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury.
Former State Senator Mike Mclachlan took the stage to lead things off, followed by State Rep Pat Callahan (108th district), Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito and Danbury GOP Chairman Mike Safranek. Each spoke glowingly of Coehlo and her abilities before Michelle took the stage.
Coehlo addressed the packed house saying: “My name is Michelle Coehlo and I’m running as the Republican candidate for the State Senate in the 24th district.” After a literal standing ovation, Coehlo addressed the crowd delivering the same message in Spanish. She continued later, saying:
“As a single mom, I moved to Danbury with my son Taylor 20 years ago. I then met Michael, my husband on a blind date, not too far from here. Michael is a proud Portuguese, Italian-American, born and raised in Danbury, true blue. We were married nearby at St. Peters Church and were blessed to have two wonderful, two more wonderful children Kate and Chris. Our dog T-Bone, 150 pounds English Mastiff, an absolute lovebug rounds out our family.”
After sharing her background, Coehlo explained what she believes she can do for her district:
“As a woman of business, I will bring real world experiences and the understanding of the everyday persons concerns, challenges and needs to the State Senate.”
Coehlo’s primary policy focus was on the educational needs of the Hat City. Coehlo spoke of family values and personal freedoms. Michelle Coehlo is a full-time project manager with 30 years of experience. She also serves on the Board of Education in Danbury.
Here is the fun part of my job, I now get to share my opinions in a way my competitors cannot. I’m a resident of Danbury, with a voice and an opinion who gets to share it without fallout (usually). My biggest takeaways from this are that Coehlo has the right people backing her and she’ll win. Al Robinson is the single best independent reporter in the Danbury Area and Pat Callahan is destined for higher office, and he will get there. Mic drop.
People thought I was crazy when I said Roberto Alves should, and could run for Mayor. I called it way before he announced his intention. He managed to take Dean Esposito to the wire in Danbury, and that was way more than anyone expected. I’m calling my shots again, and I’ll be right again. Man, I’m tired of being right.
I do need to say this because people think they have it all figured out. I didn’t say anything about what I want or wanted to happen, I said what I think and thought would happen. I’m just a fan of local politics, it’s dramatic and in many cases, hilarious. You’d laugh too if you knew how upset my articles make people.
If you don’t follow Al Robinson’s Hat City Blog, you don’t love your community. There is absolutely no good reason for me to say that, because it could technically take eyeballs away from what I am doing. I say it because Al is passionate, informed and professional, I’m just a fan.
