Did you know that I-95 once had a group of young women who helped draw crowds at radio station events? It’s true—they were known as The Navel Patrol.

When I joined the I-95 Morning Show in 2007, I came in with a bunch of ideas: segments we needed to scrap, new concepts to introduce, and most importantly, a mission to bring back the fun. I wanted the show to be an escape—filled with laughter, great music, good vibes, and when we were out in public, well... having a few pretty faces around didn’t hurt either.

What was old became new again. Instead of the Navel Patrol, we introduced The Giggle Girls. The name pretty much chose itself—at our very first meeting, they giggled at everything Ethan and I said. And just like that, it stuck.

The Giggle Girls—Kim and Kristina—were friends of the station who were always up for anything. They joined us at events, took part in our crazy "Live on the Lawn" broadcasts, and became part of some truly unforgettable moments. We held the Giggle Girl Olympics, brought in a pole dancer to teach them the ropes, and even broadcasted live from the Trading Post—while soaking in a hot tub the entire show.

We didn’t always plan these things out in detail, but somehow, they always brought the energy. It was 2007—things were different back then, but that’s a whole other story.

Just the other day, we asked our listeners what they think needs to make a comeback. Rob from Watertown didn’t hesitate—he said, “Bring back the Giggle Girls.” That got us thinking... where are they now?

Well, we tracked one of them down—Kim—and caught up with her on the April 9th, 2025 episode of the I-95 Morning Show.

It's good to hear everyone is doing well.

Check out these videos! I was 27 or 28 back then and no the cameras were not operating in 4K Ultra HD.

From Buttons to Bunkers: The Cold War Charm of The I95 Tower in Brookfield

My name is Lou Milano, the co-host of the I-95 Morning Show with Ethan, Lou & Large Dave. I started working here in September of 1999 which means I just celebrated my 23rd year with the company and I let it pass by without even realizing it.

In my time with the station I've only been to the broadcast tower site a handful of times. My last trip up there made me think that everyone should get to see this. This is my virtual tour of the tower site from the ground. As you read this I want you to keep in mind that it takes all of these components to create 50,000 watts, one of the strongest signals in Connecticut.

Amazing Pictures and Facts About I-95 (WRKI) and it's Broadcast Tower

Mark Weiss is a retired broadcast engineer, avid I-95 listener and a drone enthusiast. Recently, I published an article that featured drone photography and Mark messaged me and said, "that's nothing, you should see what I have."

I asked him to share what he had and he sent these stunning photos. He photographed the I-95 (WRKI) broadcast tower from above. Weiss shot the photos in 2018. He sent them to me and attached a note that read: "Flown by DJI Phantom 4 Pro 2.0."

Rather than just publish the photos, I wanted to add some accessory information. I spoke to a few current employees, a few former employees and dug through the oldest file cabinet we have to find out some things, even I didn't know. These are some amazing photos of our broadcast tower and some fun information about it's history and the history of I-95.

I-95 Listeners Show Us Their Stars and Stripes

On Monday I wrote an article that pained me. I had to share the news that the State of CT ranked very poorly in a new patriotism study. The study took a number of factors into account and graded the Constitution State #48 nationally. While I know patriotism is more than flag waving, I needed to rally the Ethan and Lou Show listeners to do just that. We needed an immediate and symbolic answer to this national criticism. I asked the radio show listeners to use the I-95 Rock Mobile App and text us photos of their flag, wherever it may be. They all came through in a big way and these are some of our favorites.
