I saw a very familiar, yet strange, product in the deli case at the Big Y in New Milford over the weekend - Boar's Head meats. It's sad, but it stopped me in my tracks. Boar's Head? In Big Y? Have you ever asked for Boar's Head at Big Y? The answer for decades has been "No, we don't carry them". Not anymore.

It's little things like this that make my life so much easier. My wife is particular about her sandwich meat, the Boar's Head lower sodium ham is her jam. We do the majority of our grocery shopping at Big Y, so there was always an additional stop at a rival market in order to get her BH low-salt. Needless to say, when I found the lower-sodium ham in the deli case in New Milford, I had that time-saving moment of relief-feeling wash over me.

Before you go galloping to your closest Big Y, Boar's Head meats are only available in select Big Y locations across Connecticut, so far. You can find them right now at the Big Y locations in Bethel, Enfield, Newtown, and New Milford. According to bigy.com though - "Coming soon to more Big Y locations".

Boar's Head started in New York City in 1905, and it's a five-generation, family-owned business. I'm delighted that now I can "Compromise Elsewhere" when I do my shopping. Bring your Ovengold to the Big Y in Torrington Boar's Head, I'll be waiting.
