Danbury’s Charter Oak Brewery is Awesome But What’s Up With The Swimming Pool?
People have been ranting and raving about their positive experiences at Charter Oak Brewery in Danbury for some time now.
I got tired of hearing, "you gotta go, you must go, you'll love it," so I went. I buckled to the peer pressure and my wife and I went this past Saturday night.
We headed over to Shelter Rock Road in Danbury and saddled up at the bar and learned that everyone was right, it's great. There was a couple behind the counter that could not have been nicer.
They explained the beer, the different flavors and choices available to us and the woman even shared homemade baked good with us. We shared some laughs with some wonderful strangers and enjoyed a fun bit of conversation.
It was a great night out with my boo and I encourage you to take your boo. Chef recommends (I'm Chef). Then I went outside and I saw something very interesting, a swimming pool. It's not a horrible riddle to unwind, there is the Charter Oak building, another industrial type building and a home in that area so the pool likely belongs to that house.
It just seemed out a place in the best way possible. Although it probably does belong to the home, I think we cannot rule out the possibility that the folks at Charter Oak just really love swimming.
Whoever the pool belongs to, I feel that it presents an interesting social media promotional opportunity. The owners can lease the pool to Charter Oak, you put a lifeguard out there year-round and let people take a dip while visiting the brewery.
You encourage people to take photos in the pool, you can even have a photographer there to capture the photos for people, then they shoot you a text with your photo so you can share it on social media.
If you do it in the winter it becomes a social media challenge and an experiential destination. People will come from far and wide to "dip and sip" at the Charter Oak pool. You can sell merchandise, t-shirts that say things like:
- Charter Oak made me wet
- I survived the pool at Charter Oak
- I froze my ass off at Charter Oak
- I went to the "Oak and Soak" and all I got was this stupid t-shirt
- I beat the Charter Oak "Sip and Dip" 2021
I think I'm onto something here, I should really do this for a living. I'm constantly coming up with ideas that can turn into fast cash but never for me, just others. Would you do the Charter Oak, winter swimming pool challenge?
This was my view from the parking lot Saturday night. I posted this in my Instagram story and asked people, what is up with the swimming pool at Charter Oak? Everyone who answered remarked that it stuck out to them as well.
P.S. The lawn looks awesome, especially for fall.
P.S. #2 - My brain is available for rent.
