Danbury Mayor Joe Cavo Confirms the City Does Change Flag Sizes
Recently, I wrote an article about the American flag on West Street in Danbury. I wanted to know, had the city altered the size of the flag? Did they change the pole size? Were both altered?

I shared this split screen of photos that I took to make my case. The one on the left is from May of 2021 and the one on the right is from July 2021.
We asked Danbury Mayor Joe Cavo about it when he joined us for his regular weekly segment on the Ethan and Lou Show and he was prepared, saying:
"No, actually we do change the flag from time to time deeding on weather conditions and also whether the flag gets flown at half staff for some memorial. We have to put a smaller flag on the pole, only because the tree that is there in the green with that flagpole and the flag interfere with each other if you were to have the big flag on the pole at half mast.
It does change and sometimes what will happen is, if the flag gets raised to full staff on a certain day, they may leave the smaller flag on it and raise it up to full staff. But, most of the time in really nice weather we think it's just fabulous to see that large flag flying there.
I know that some people get upset with us because it may be slightly larger than it should be for that 100 foot pole, but I don't think that you could ever be too large in your patriotism for our country and the love of the U.S.A., so you know I'm happy when I see that big flag just wafting in the breeze out there, that's great."
I knew it! I'm not going crazy, I knew something was different and so many people told me I was "on something." Well, guess what sister? You are on something. The flag sizes do, indeed change multiple times a year and for a variety of different reasons. I feel vindicated and I want to ride this high all day long.
