We spoke with Mayor Alves during his regular weekly segment on the I-95 Morning Show on Thursday (9/25/25) and asked him about the difficult news.

Lou: Obviously the big news is that you have this cancer diagnosis. We want you to know, the guys and I are here for you. That is not empty—if you need something, please reach out. I'm not great in these situations. When people worry about me, I get annoyed. How are you doing and feeling?

Mayor: "Look, I'm positive. This is a serious diagnosis, but my doctors are telling me it's treatable. That is what I'm going to listen to. I'm going to fight like hell as I do for everything else. I'm going to be here a long time for my kids, for my family, for our city—and that is the attitude you've got to take with these things. You know, nothing is ever promised. This is a club nobody ever wants to be a part of, but these are the cards I was dealt, and now I have a mission in front of me, and we're going to execute it and win."
