Did You See This Serious Crash in Danbury on the Fourth of July?

According to a release from the City of Danbury, police are asking for the public's help as they investigate a serious crash that happened on South King Street over the Fourth of July weekend.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, in the area of 24 South King Street. According to police, officers arrived to find a blue Hyundai Santa Fe that had left the roadway. Investigators say the SUV struck several trees before eventually rolling onto the property at that address.

The driver suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital for emergency treatment. No additional information about the driver's condition has been released.

Because of the severity of the crash, South King Street remained closed for several hours while members of the Danbury Police Accident Investigation Team processed the scene and gathered evidence. As is standard with serious collisions, investigators worked to document exactly what happened before the roadway was reopened to traffic.

Now, police are hoping someone in the community may be able to help fill in the missing pieces. If you were driving through the area around the time of the crash, witnessed the accident firsthand, or have any information that could assist investigators, the Danbury Police Department would like to hear from you.
