CT’s Popular Slang: Do You Know What Your Kids Are Saying?
One of the best parts of being a kid was speaking in slang. I loved it so much that I never really gave it up—I’m 46 years old and still dropping 90s slang like it’s new.
If you have kids, you already know slang is alive and well. You hear it every day. Whether it’s “rizz,” “huzz,” or your 6-year-old daughter calling you “bruh,” it feels like a nonstop battle just to keep up. You want at least some idea of what your kids are saying out there in the wacky world of chaos and questionable TikToks.

Case in point: my son recently started saying “6-7.” At first, I ignored it, but when it became part of his daily vocabulary, I knew I had to dig in. Turns out, it means absolutely nothing. It started in a Skrilla song, moved to memes, then blew up online. The whole joke is the absurdity. And honestly, I was relieved, because the way my kid was enjoying it usually means I don’t want him saying it.

But here’s the thing—who wants to play slang detective every time one of these words hits your radar? Instead, I’ve put together a cheat sheet. Unscrambler.com recently dropped the results of a nationwide study on popular slang for 2025, pulling Google search data to compile the list. They even narrowed it down to the most searched slang words in Connecticut.
So here they are, in all their dopey glory. Don’t say I never did anything for you.
Connecticut's Most Popular Slang Terms 2025

Used for someone with many "partners" who bops around liberally online. This is often tossed around in a negative way.
3. Mogging (79,000 searches)
Outshining or outclassing someone in looks, skills, or success.
4. Huzz (61,000 searches)
A term for an attractive girl or group of girls, now used more playfully than its original meaning.
5. Chopped (59,000 searches)
A quick way of saying something—or someone—is ugly, undesirable, or busted.
6. Big Back (57,000 searches)
Used to poke fun at someone who is overweight.
7. Glazing (49,000 searches)
Calling out someone for over-the-top, insincere praise. ie. Chris Collinsworth will not stop glazing Patrick Mahomes.
8. Zesty (44,000 searches)
Describes someone who’s energetic, exciting, or extra lively. That is what Unscrambler says but that is not what I hear it means. Dig a little deeper.
9. Fanum Tax (36,000 searches)
Taking a bite of your friend’s food without asking, inspired by streamer Fanum.
10. Green FN (34,000 searches)
Slang for a guaranteed win or something highly desirable, taken from NBA 2K’s perfect “green” shots.
If you're anything like me, you're going to go out of your way to use these in conversation when your kid's friends are around. They will be so embarrassed, it will be terrific.
