Cavo is a shining example of what civic pride and service should look like. Joe became a regular guest and friend of the I-95 Morning Show when he took the reigns as Mayor in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We spoke to our friend Joe Cavo on Wednesday (6/7/23) as he wanted to make an announcement on the I-95 Morning Show. We said a quick hello and then Cavo wasted no time saying:

"Thanks for having me on this morning. I talked to Lou last week and said look, I've got some exciting news maybe not for Danbury but for me, for Liz. I announced that I would be resigning from the City Council last night, last night was my last council meeting. You know, you guys we talked years ago about dream boards and Ethan and I had compared notes on dream boards and we're pulling the pin on our dream board and getting everything in motion. We sold our house a couple of weeks ago and I will not be living in Danbury anymore so because of that I'm not able to be a councilman and serve anymore. So, I thanked the council and the Mayor last night and tendered my resignation."

For those who don't know, what is on your dream board? What is next for you?

"So our dream board involves a motor home and our Harley-Davidson on the back on the motor home. We are going to travel across the country, go to different areas and ride, look at the scenery, meet people and just enjoy our future years doing what we want to do."

Joe has made a huge impression on me and I have nothing but respect for the way he's served his community for so many years. I've not had one single negative dealing with Joe and I've never heard a bad word about him from the others who know him. Joe is one of those people, to know him is to love him. I feel very lucky that I got to know him and I actually have a pandemic to thank for that. Joe Cavo, thank you for your community service and friendship.

We were lucky to have him as a leader, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I don't know too many people (none) who could have done the job as well as he did it.

Now who is going to bring me donuts? Who will fix my compressor when it breaks? Who will text to make sure I'm OK when I take a sick day? Who will visit every Danbury pizza place to prove how much he loves the Hat City? Joe did all of those things for me and I am just one person, imagine all the people's lives he touched.

Listen to our entire discussion with the former Danbury Mayor and Councilman below.

8 Main Street Danbury Facts So Unbelievable, They Have to be True

Danbury: "The Hat City"

At one time. Danbury was known as the hat making center of the universe. The hat making industry is what this town was built on but frankly, I'm tired of talking about hats. We are so much more than that. Danbury has a lot of intriguing true stories and many of them originated in the same place, Main Street. Main Street Danbury holds truths so unbelievable, you kind of have to. How can one 2-mile stretch of road, hold so many stories? I just does.

Rabbits Hockey Squad Cheered in Danbury's Version of Canyon of Heroes

Hockey is not exactly synonymous with a sunny May afternoon but it was all puck on Sunday in Danbury, CT. The Danbury Hat Tricks and their fans celebrated their FPHL Championship win in dramatic fashion. The team, coaches, personnel and city officials snaked their way though the D-Block in a Championship parade.
