Connecticut’s Favorite Pie: Pumpkin
Zippia recently published stats from the American Pie Council (yes, that's a thing) and they say that 186 million pies are sold in American grocery stores each year. They break down the numbers even further and that is where we learn that the Nutmeg State is among 41 other states that rank pumpkin pie as their favorite pie.
Pecan comes in at second with five states calling it the best pie. They also learned that bakers are in high demand right now with 4,853 baking job opportunities available nationwide. Who loves pumpkin pie the most? Alaska is your answer, they are crazy about it.
I know where this pumpkin pie craze came from. We are making too many for no reason. I love Halloween and I love a good Jack-O-Lantern, but come on! Have you seen the amount of pumpkins outside your local grocery store in October? We have to do something with the leftover ones.
Necessity is the mother of invention, invention is the mother of pies we don't care about. Don't get me wrong, I love pumpkin pie, but why? The texture is a bit weird, it's also a pie which is NOT a cake. If it was so good, would we smother it in whipped cream?
This is Zippia's United States of Pie Map
For once we have a UNITED States of America.
