CT State Police Seeking Witnesses To Fatal Accident in Shelton
The Connecticut State Police are seeking the public's assistance as they investigate a fatal one-vehicle accident that occurred yesterday afternoon on Route 8 Southbound in Shelton.
According to Trooper Norton of CSP Troop I in Bethany, Demar Thompson, 46, of Bridgeport, was traveling Southbound on Route 8 South through Shelton, in his 2002 Range Rover HSE, just before 5PM yesterday, October 29, 2020. For unknown reasons, approximately 1 mile North of Exit 12 on Rt. 8 Southbound, Mr. Thompson's vehicle veered left off of the roadway, down an embankment, and into the woods, where it struck a tree. Mr. Thompson was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The accident is under investigation, and the Connecticut State Police are asking that if you may have witnessed it, to please contact Trooper Norton #889 at the Connecticut State Police Troop I in Bethany at 203-393-4200, or at taylor.norton@ct.gov.
Trooper Norton goes on to say that furthermore, if you might have been driving through the area in Shelton during the time of the crash, and you may have footage recorded on a vehicle-equipped dashboard camera, you are also being asked to contact him at the previously stated contacts.
It was raining pretty steadily yesterday afternoon around that time of day, and with moderate rush hour traffic through the heavily traveled Rt. 8 Southbound trip, it can be dangerous. Please check your footage if your vehicle has a camera and contact Trooper Norton at Troop I.
