Connecticut Senator Fights for New Fairfield Man in Deportation Case
New Fairfield's Jose Colindres wears an ankle bracelet ordered by ICE as he waits to find out if his deportation orders will be overturned.
Late last month, Colindres learned he was going to be deported back to his native country, Guatemala on August 17. Since then, Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy along with U.S Rep, Elizabeth Esty have been lobbying hard to keep Colindres in the country.
During a recent press conference at the Colindres home, Senator Blumenthal stated,
We are fighting for this family because they are the poster child for why the Trump administration's deportation policies are irrational and cruel. The thought of this family being ripped apart is gut-wrenching and heartbreaking."
According to an article in the Brookfield Daily Voice it's been established that Joel Colindres has been living in this country for the last 13 years and has been married to Samantha Colindres since 2010 and have two beautiful children, Preston and Lila who need their daddy. He is gainfully employed and supports his family. So why has Trump decided to send Joel Colindres back to Guatemala where his life may be in danger?
Joel's wife, Samantha, said the the legal bills to fight her husband's deportation order are beginning to pile up so she started up a Go Fund Me campaign to ease the financial burden. If you would like to contribute, click on this link.
