Well, you had to know this was going to happen sooner or later.

I know quite a few people who benefit from the use of Medical Marijuana. I'm thinking that not a one of them give a hoot about the "science" of it, but one doctor in Connecticut thinks we should be.

In a story from newhavenregister.com, Dr. Deepak Cyril D'Souza a West Haven doctor is expressing concerns about Connecticut's Medical Marijuana Program. D'Souza says the program in our state is not based on science, and he's concerned that pot has been approved for patients without using federal standards applied to medicine approvals. He believes that whether marijuana is effective in treating symptoms should not be up to a vote by a board, based on testimony from often just one person.

Dr. D'Souza had this to say to the New Haven Register:

I think the process so far has been determined really by public sentiment rather than by science

The article is really very in-depth, and the doctor does raise many valid concerns and questions. Actually enough of them that recently the Consumer Protection Department announced it would be accepting requests for research proposals.
