Driving is one of my most favorite things to do, especially when it's in technicolor. I crank up my favorite tunes and head on out for a "Fall Foliage Road Trip."

Take some notes while I recommend some of my favorites...............1. From New Milford, head up Rt.202 to New Preston. Take a left onto Rt. 45 and in a matter of minutes you'll see the gorgeousness of Lake Waramaug. Get your cameras ready and make sure you circle the entire lake!......2. Eastern CT/The Quiet Corner......Start your drive on Rt.169 in Lisbon, just off I-395. You'll be treated to 32 miles of beauty! You'll drive past faded red barns and apple orchards into the town of Brooklyn which was settled in the 1600's. Twenty six miles from the start of your trip, you'll end up in Woodstock, the home of Roseland Cottage.

3. Since 1934, drivers have enjoyed the Merritt Parkway's gorgeous views and side trips. Depending on what kind of timetable you're working with, stopovers are suggested off Exit 28 in Greenwich, Exit 35 in Stamford and then a left onto Rt.137, get back on the Merritt and then off again at Exit 45 and onto Rt.58 in Easton. The entire stretch of Rt.58 south to Fairfield or north to Bethel is a must for fall foliage fans. To maximize your drive, check out the Fall Foliage Report from Connecticut's Department of Energy and Conservation.
