How Connecticut Ranks In The Ongoing Government Shutdown Saga
We are two weeks into the latest shutdown of the US Government, have you noticed anything different in Connecticut yet?

Government shutdowns are not common, the United States of America's 'management team' has taken a knee on the sidelines eleven times since 1976, but the ripple effects of a shutdown are very apparent in some states much more so than others.
Do you feel as if Connecticut is on top of the situation? I've received numerous press releases from Governor Ned Lamont regarding how they're filling the gaps while our elected representatives haggle over the future of our country. A new study has just come out that has ranked the most and least affected states by the government shutdown and Connecticut has landed right in the middle.
According to 2025 Government Shutdown Report: Most & Least Affected States, Connecticut ranks #26 out of 50. In order to arrive at their rankings WalletHub.com determined how each state has been affected by the temporary loss of: Share of Federal Jobs, Federal Contract Jobs per capita, % of Families receiving SNAP, Real Estate as Percentage of Gross State Product, and Access to National Parks.
Connecticut is not known for National Parks, we've been ranked #47 out of 51 in the Access to National Parks metric, and we've been ranked at #50 in the Share of Federal Jobs metric, but Connecticut is tied for #1 in Federal Contract Dollars per capita. The most affected states were Washington DC, Hawaii, and New Mesico, while the bottom three unaffected states were Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota.
