Connecticut Drive-In Theater Announces Classic Summer Film Lineup
Yeah, IMAX screens are cool, but they're even better outdoors. I love the drive-in movie experience. It's tough to do it here in Connecticut, at this moment, there are only two in operation, and one of them announced their classic lineup of films for the summer of 23.

I'm holding out hope that the Pleasant Valley Drive-in in Barkhamsted is being renovated, the former owner's announced recently that they have sold the place. Rumors have been flying on local message boards that the former drive-in is being renovated for a Costco or BJ's, while others have said that the new owners want to keep the tradition going, I guess we'll see soon? If you're looking for a nice night out watching your favorite characters on the big screen under the stars with the kids, Southington Drive-In has just announced a slate of classic films that will run Saturday nights from June - September 2023.
Southington Drive-in's 2023 season will kick off with THE summer classic Jaws on June 3, then the slate turns to children's movies & musicals, and a couple all-time classic family films:
- June 10 - Inside Out
- June 17 - Aladdin
- June 24 - Minions - The Rise of Gru
- July 1 - Grease
- July 8 - Puss in Boots
- July 15 - Coco
- July 22 - Moana
- July 29 - Elvis
- August 5 - Zootopia
- August 12 - Sing 2
- August 19 - Incredibles 2
- August 26 - Top Gun: Maverick
- September 2 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- September 9 - Dirty Dancing
Rather see a first-run movie? Mansfield Drive-in in Mansfield is the only other drive-in in operation in Connecticut. Right now they're showing Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Dungeons & Dragons, and 65 with Adam Driver. Grab me a bucket of buttered if you go to the concession stand.
