Brookfield PD Raises Record Amount For Special Olympics

It's something most of us would never think about doing, jumping into the freezing cold water of Candlewood Lake.

For folks in Brookfield who wanted to help raise money for Connecticut Special Olympics, Saturday was the day to do the unthinkable.

So with chilly temps and overcast skies a large crowd gathered at Brookfield Town Beach to take a quick swim and help raise money for Connecticut Special Olympics.

This was the Brookfield Police Departments very first Penguin Plunge, and after all the participants took a dip and quickly dryed off, the department had set a record for the most successful single day fundraising event for Special Olympics Connecticut ever.

Together the community all came together and raised over $12,000 for the Special Olympics.

The Police Department even posted some of the outstanding groups and individuals who teamed up to be part of this record setting fundraising event on their Facebook page.

The monies raised will go to help support the Connecticut Special Olympics year round sports, health and fitness programs for athletes around the state and help create communities that accept and include people of all abilities.
