Brand-New Southbury Market Temporarily Shut Down After Car Crashes Into Building

A motor vehicle accident, that thankfully left no one injured, occurred on Monday in Southbury, and it's severely damaged one of Southbury's newest businesses. Southbury Seafood Market just recently opened up their doors for business in Southbury's Heritage Village at 466 Heritage Road.

On Monday afternoon, August 9, 2021, Southbury Seafood posted a message on their social media accounts saying that they were going to be closed for the foreseeable future due to an accident. It goes on to say that no one was injured, and they thank you for your patience as they rebuild and reopen.

According to the Southbury Economic Development Commission, it was a motor vehicle accident that caused serious damage both inside and outside Southbury Seafood Market and they posted a photo of the aftermath. The Southbury Economic Development Commission goes on to offer their support and concern to Southbury Seafood Market's owner Roy Khalil and his staff.

Also of note, according to the Southbury Economic Development Commission, Southbury Seafood Market donated their fresh products to the Southbury Food Bank, and other local nonprofits that help those in need. I would have loved to have seen the look of joy on their faces when they were served fresh Flounder, Ahi Tuna, and PEI Mussels. Out of a bad situation, comes a bit of good.

Reading through some of the comments, a few have commented that this is another in a long line of serious accidents that have occurred over the years in Heritage Village, and maybe it's time to install some kind of barriers between the parking areas and the retail, commercial, and restaurant storefronts.

There is no timetable posted for Southbury Seafood market's reopening date. I join in on the chorus of well-wishers and hope that they will rebuild Southbury Seafood Market quickly.
