The highly anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is taking place tonight live on Netflix. For a sporting event of this magnitude and hype, the local build up this Mega-hyped event has been subdued, and there's a financial reason for that.

Netflix, and their commercial rights broadcast holders are putting the kabosh on any local advertising from bars, clubs, and restaurants advertising the live stream of the event tonight. When a big ticket event like this is the one thing that the national spotlight is focused on, sports bar and pub owners can sniff those extra heads shuffling off the couch into the world of wings and beer. DoorDash must be rejoicing.

Today is the day of the fight, we're hours away, and the only social media post that I've seen today mentioning you can watch the fight there tonight is a Mexican restaurant in Torrington. Bobby V's in WIndsor Locks, Scoreboard in Waterbury, Sliders in Plantsville? Not a word about Tyson vs Paul. Will you be able to watch the fight at any of these? Who's to say? They just cannot advertise that you will be able to without paying the vig to Netflix. Netflix focused much of the past year cracking down on password sharing, and I think we all realize that tonight's event wasn't cheap.

Who did cough up the licensing fee to be able to advertise the fight tonight? FanDuel Sportsbook at Mohegan Sun, and DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods. Both of those are a better place to watch than your couch.
