I know they told us growing up to never skip breakfast, but some people just don't listen to that. I wholeheartedly agree with the no skipping breakfast thing - I find it to be a superior meal of the day. There are so many options to choose from, but breakfast sandwiches are the ultimate choice in my opinion.

I feel like your day can't start off bad when you have a good breakfast sandwich. I'm not talking a quick grab from a breakfast chain, I'm talking something from a diner or utilizing our local businesses.

Some of Connecticut's local breakfast spots have really unique sandwiches. One that I always like to call out is A.M. Bagel in Derby. They've been recognized very often and I think about their bagels daily.

But just recently, the publication 247 Tempo came out with a list of the best breakfast sandwiches all around the country and a Connecticut drive-in was highlighted. Lake Zoar Drive-In in Monroe took Connecticut's choice for best breakfast sandwich. The specific breakfast sandwich highlighted was the Hang Over Buster. It goes on to say that "the sandwich is subtitled 'Double, Double, Double & a Topper' on the menu. That means two eggs, four slices of bacon, two slices of cheese, and a hash-brown patty, all stacked on a hard roll."

Uhmmm.. yes please. Lake Zoar drive-in has been a staple of Connecticut for quite some time now - starting in 1993. It's home to one of the best burgers in the state as well as their other typical foods you would see in a lakeside drive-in. You can check out their menu here.

Lake Zoar Drive-In is located at 14 Roosevelt Drive in Monroe right along Rt-34. If you are ever in that area, or if you are willing to take a ride, I highly recommend stopping there to try the food. Not only will you get a killer breakfast sandwich, but their food will be a perfect addition to your summer day.

BRB - planning my next breakfast date.
