You've been following all the rules to keep yourself and others safe from Covid-19. You've washed your hands more times than you can count. You cover your mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze. You get a gold star on your forehead for practicing social distancing guidelines.

This weekend could provide the ideal opportunity to safely leave the house before your head explodes by planning one of those good old fashioned Sunday drives. Just make sure you don't make any stops where humans are congregating. All you need is a full tank of gas, some snacks, your camera phone, and the beautiful Connecticut countryside. I've got the perfect route all planned out which I call the 'Litchfield Loop.'

  • Let's begin in New Milford on Route 202 heading north for 1.6 miles...
  • Turn right on CT-109 E (One of CT's most scenic roads)
  • Drive for 3 miles and make sure to stop at the Kimberly Farm Stand and buy a couple of pints of their homemade ice cream! (Cash Only) You're welcome...

  • Turn right onto Flirtation Ave and then another right on CT-45 N/E Shore Rd.
  • Lake Waramaug will be on your left...Travel for 1 mile and turn left onto North Shore Road...
  • This is called the Lake Waramaug Loop which is a 7.75 mile trip around this gorgeous lake...
  • Navigate your way back to CT-202...

Hang a right on 202 south and drive 4.2 miles to the Whitehorse Country Pub & Restaurant for some take-out. This is one of Mindy's and my favorite restaurants and they offer curbside pickup from 4 till 8 seven days a week. Click on whitehorsecountrypub.com for their takeout menu.
