Stumpy's opens their first Connecticut franchise this Sunday, located in a 9,000-square-foot space at 8 Progress Drive in Manchester. We spoke with the franchise owner, Nick Toth, who told us that this is the ideal activity for dealing with stress and then added that many would make reservations to throw an axe or two for that exact reason.
He also told us that Stumpy's has 12 private throwing pits with 24 lanes, and they're strictly following CDC guidelines along with state and local guidelines. Nick made it a point to inform me that their guests' safety and wellness is their highest priority. All surfaces are sanitized before and after your session.
No one throws an axe until your quick training period is complete, including the rules and how to throw the axe. To take part in the fun of axe throwing, you must be 18 or over, except on signified family days where kids are allowed, but must be accompanied by a guardian.
You are allowed to BYOB in addition to bringing your own food and drink. Soda, bottled water, and snacks will be available. Nick also told me a story about a woman who booked a reservation as an 80th birthday gift for herself. He went on to say that she was pretty damn good!
