You're at a friends wedding when you spot them, those tasty little bite-sized cocktail weiners rolled in dough and now your day is complete!

I personally welcome you to National Pigs in a Blanket Day which happens every year on April 24. You may be asking, what festivities have been planned to honor this awesome appetizer, absolutely none whatsoever except feasting on as many as possible.

Have you ever asked yourself, are there actual restaurants where you might find these sausage sized hot dogs rolled in dough on the menu? Neither have I, but if you're thinking about making plans to celebrate National Pigs in a Blanket Day the following are some eateries in Connecticut that serve them up!

  1. Leo's Restaurant (Southbury and Middlebury) - "3 pork sausage links wrapped in double pancakes"
  2. The Chelsea (Fairfield) - "All beef hotdogs wrapped in puff pastry w/side of pickled onions and mustard for dipping"
  3. Chips's Family Restaurant (Trumbull, Fairfield, Orange, Southbury Wethersfield, Southington) - 'Two little piggies and a friend tucked away into three fluffy buttermilk pancakes."

I can confidently say that no one is schlepping to a restaurant because they have pigs in a blanket on the menu especially when they're available at your favorite grocery store. You'll find Hebrew National Bagel Dogs at Shoprite, Target, and Walmart.

If money's no object and you're looking to step it up and impress the neighbors, go with the Williams Sonoma pigs in a blanket or Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks in a Basket. Trader Joe's has their own piggies called Puff Dogs and Costco also sells a variety of different brands.
